Good to know

Questions, answered

The short version: order by Friday 6pm, pick up warm, full refunds before pickup, and every allergen is listed on every item.

Ordering & pickup

Where do I pick up my order?

Pickup is at 812 S. Tennessee St (kitchen window), Pickup Tue–Sat. You'll get an order number — tell us that at the window and we'll hand you a warm paper bag with your bakes inside.

When do orders close?

Orders close 48 hours before your chosen pickup window, and Saturday pre-orders close Friday at 6pm sharp. The order page only shows dates that still have openings.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes — $25. It keeps the math simple for both of us and covers the cost of a full oven cycle.

How do I pay?

Online at order time — card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. Your bake isn't scheduled until it's paid, which is how we keep no-shows (and wasted flour) at zero.

Do you deliver or ship?

Not yet — pickup only, at the kitchen window. It keeps prices honest and bakes warm. Custom wedding cakes are the one exception; ask us.

Ingredients & allergens

Do your bakes contain allergens?

Everything is made in a home kitchen that handles wheat, dairy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, and sesame. Every menu item lists its ingredients and allergens on its page. If you have a severe allergy, please reach out before ordering — we can't guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Do you have nut-free, vegan, or gluten-free options?

Nut-free and vegan, yes — filter the menu by dietary need and you'll see what fits. Gluten-free is trickier in a flour-dusted home kitchen; contact us and we'll tell you honestly what's safe.

How long do the bakes keep?

Bread and quick breads are best within 3 days, wrapped or in a sealed bag. Muffins and cookies hold about a week at room temperature. Cakes with glaze are best within 2 days. We don't add preservatives, so when it's gone, it's gone.

Custom orders

Can you make a custom cake?

Yes — that's some of our favorite work. Celebration cakes start at $45, statement and tiered cakes at $85. Start with the custom order form; we'll quote within a day.

How much notice do custom orders need?

Most cakes need 72 hours. Anything tiered, sculpted, or with fresh flowers needs a week. The date picker won't let you choose sooner than we're comfortable promising.

How does the deposit work?

Once you approve the quote, a 50% deposit holds your date. The balance is due at pickup. Deposits are refundable up to 48 hours before your date.

Policies

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

Full refund any time before your pickup window. Reply to your confirmation email and we'll take care of it — one click on our end, no forms.

What exactly is a cottage food operation?

Mississippi Makes is an Arkansas cottage food operation. The bakes are made in a home kitchen and sold directly to you — no middleman, no warehouse, no preservatives. By law, cottage foods are non-perishable items (breads, muffins, cookies, cakes), which is exactly what we make.

Why 'Mississippi' if you're in Arkansas?

The recipes are Mississippi — family cards, grandmother's handwriting, the pecan pie. The kitchen is Arkansas. We liked the name too much to change it at the state line.
